These quilts are Jelly Roll friendly. You will need:

• One Jelly Roll (40 2 ½ inch strips of fabric, selvage to selvage). You can use a pre-packaged jelly roll or cut your own beautiful strips from your stash. If you make your own, please be sure that they are 2 ½ inch selvage to selvage cuts, not cuts from fat quarters or shorter goods. You don’t want to have to piece your strips into equal lengths before you can start sewing.

• 1 ¾ yards of two different fabrics for your background.

• We will be making strip sets with our Jelly Rolls and then slicing them on a 45o angle before reassembling them into the stairsteps.

In addition to your fabric, you will need a sewing machine in good working order, basic sewing supplies, 24-inch ruler, rotary cutter and large cutting mat. The large mat is important for cutting your strip sets and your background. Don’t cut your background ahead of time. We need to do some measuring and calculating before we cut the backgrounds.
