Over two sessions, you will learn: basic block piecing, sewing blocks and rows together, adding borders, sandwiching, quilting, and binding. Yes, really!
You can choose a quilted cushion cover, a small table topper, or a baby quilt*; we will be starting with pre-cut squares to make it easier.
Materials & supplies you will need:
-Sewing machine**, thread, scissors, straight pins, curved safety pins, fresh needle in your machine, good quality thread, and the usual sewing supplies
For table topper or cushion cover:
-1 Charm Pack of your choice - 5" x 5" squares.
-1/4 yard or Fat Quarter of one contrast fabric for a border (you may choose this at the first class)
For the second session:
-3/4 yard fabric for backing
-1 Fat Quarter for binding
-Batting 24" x 24"
For baby quilt:
-1 Layer Cake of your choice - 10" x 10" squares
1/2 yard of one contrast fabric for a border (you may choose this at the first class)
-1-3/4 yards fabric for backing
-1/2 yard fabric for binding
-Batting at least 40" x 60"
Optional: ruler, cutting mat & rotary cutter. If you keep quilting after this class you'll want to own these, but for the first class you can use ours.
*A NOTE ON YOUR SIZE CHOICE: for the table topper, you will be making half square triangles with your pre-cut squares, and will be able to move through the project much more quickly. This is the recommended option. If you reeeeaaaaallllly need to make the baby quilt size, you won't be doing the hst's, and will need to begin sandwiching the quilt in the first class so that you will have time to complete your quilt in the second class.
**limited number of sewing machines will be available to borrow and must be booked in advance. It is always better to be learning on your own machine - it's the one you will be using at home!
Class capped at 6 participants to ensure one-on-one instructor time. 6 total hours of class time.
