My First Knit Hat

This class is for beginner knitters who are ready to move beyond rectangles (or for knitters who have never knit in the round and want to give it a try).
Learn some basic skills like ribbing, decreasing, working in the round, by making a simple hat in either chunky or worsted weight yarn. The pattern will be provided.
We will show you two ways to handle the top of your hat (i.e. when the knitting is too small to go around the 16" needle) so be prepared to purchase an additional needle(s). Don't worry - we'll talk about this in the first class so you will have time to decide on the method you want to try: magic loop, 4 double points or 2 circulars! You will need:
- 1 skein of worsted weight yarn (20 st/4 inch). We recommend Malabrigo Rios or Berroco Alpaca. OR chunky weight such as Berroco Ultra Wool Chunky or Malabrigo Mecha (11-13 st/inch)
- 16" circular needle in recommended size for your yarn choice
If you want to learn to knit, we have a class for that!
