Sew the Micah Dress
This breezy, midi-length dress has a deep v-neckline, seams at the center front and back, and a faced split hem. The easy silhouette is ideal for fabrics like lawn, linen, rayon, or lightweight cottons or jerseys. Wear the Micah as a beach cover-up or dress it up for work or a night out!
This is a beginner friendly pattern, but you must be comfortable on a sewing machine (meaning you know how to wind a bobbin, maintain seam allowance and pin fabric). The main skills you will learn in this class are cutting out a pattern, cutting out fabric and other specific garment sewing techniques.
If you are totally new to sewing, we recommend you take the Learn to Sew a Pillowcase class, step one in our series. You can register for that class here.
Materials List:
1 Micah Dress pattern, available for online order through Seamwork here (we will provide a video on how to print and assemble the pattern)
Between 3 and 4.5 yards of lightweight fabric (the amount of yardage depends on your size) (see above for fabric recs)
1 spool of matching thread
When sewing garments, it's best to sew on your own machine. If you need to borrow one from us, please call asap to reserve one!
