Squared Up Jacket

It’s magical the way this jacket comes together starting with two identical floppy crocheted hexagons using the classic cluster stitch. Then you’ll slip stitch the top edge of the sleeves together and lengthen the sleeves and bottom hem to your preferred length. The two halves are joined with the cluster stitch down the middle of the back of the jacket.
I crocheted mine with Urth Yarn, Uneek Fingering Striping yarn which comes 435 yards per hank. Any fingering weight (sock) yarn will work. If you’d like greater control of where the colors are placed on your jacket, you may choose various solid colors. I needed 5 hanks of Urth Yarn for an adult size large.
We’ll use your choice of pattern found on Ravelry based on size.
Squared Up Jacket (size S to 3X)
Squared Up Baby Jacket (size 3 mo. to 4T)
Besides your choice of yarn (see pattern for yardage), you’ll need US C/2 to D/2.75 crochet hooks (possibly larger), a tapestry needle, and stitch markers as needed. Checking for gauge isn’t quite as important with this pattern as you can easily add rows to increase the size.
What You’ll Learn
You’ll learn how to create hexagons using the cluster stitch, how to assemble the jacket, and how to customize the size. I’ll show you how to change colors if you will not be using self-striping yarn.
