OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE. It’s very important to knit a gauge swatch to make sure your knitting gauge matches the pattern gauge. Otherwise your sweater won’t fit!
To get the most out of the class, please complete your stockinette gauge swatch on the US 8-10 needles beforehand and come in to the shop to have Lisa, Reena or Danielle check it for you. If you come on a Monday, Wednesday or Saturday you'll for sure find one of them here.
To knit a gauge swatch: cast on 24 stitches, knit in stockinette (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) for 4”. Measure 2” sections in several places. You should have 7.5 - 8 stitches in the 2” sections. Bring your swatch into the shop or to the first class for help checking it.
Other accessories needed:10 stitch markers for kids version, 4 stitch markers for adult version
Darning needle
Note – interchangeable circular needles are your best bet – then you can change cord lengths as you need to.
Next Note – the DPN’s are for the sleeves; you can also knit the sleeves on the circulars using the magic loop method, on 2 circular needles or with a short circular for the child and adult sizes. We will go over each of these methods in class
For help with any of this, stop by the shop or attend one of our clinics before the class.
