Diamond Dazzle Quilt Class
In this class we will learn to make half square triangles and do 'snowball' corners AND align the angles to make lovely diamonds that sparkle. We'll learn techniques to get perfect matching diamonds every time (ok, pretty darn close to perfect!). This class is for a confident beginner and above. The student should know how to cut squares accurately and sew an accurate 1/4" seam. The goal of the class is to get at least one diamond block finished so the student is confident in completing the quilt top.
Supplies required to make the quilt top (please purchase before class begins)
- 1 Layer Cake (42- 10" squares)
- 7/8 yard contrast fabric for small diamonds
- 2/3 yard Inner Border
- 1 yard Outer Border
To finish the quilt, you'll also need
- 2/3 yard binding
- 4 1/4 yards of 42" backing fabric or 2 1/8 yard of 108" backing fabric
Additional necessary supplies:
- Sewing Machine
- neutral sewing thread
- scissors
- pins
- 9-1/2" or larger square rotary cutting ruler
- favorite marking tool that will be visible on the back of contrast fabric such as Frixion pen
- Sewline pencil or regular graphite pencil.
- 3-1/2" or larger square ruler
- quilter's/wash-out glue
- small iron/pressing mat
Finished quilt is approx. 62" x 70"
If you'd like to get a head start before the class, you can cut 84 3-1/2" squares from the contrast fabric.
