Autumn Artsy Fartsy Flower Quilt
In this two part class we will learn about Fusible web and free motion applique along with free motion quilting. The concept is the same!
We provide all the fabrics ($15 kit cost payable in cash at the first class) except binding with the base and border pre-sewn and batting attached. You get to choose from pre-cut leaves, acorns and pumpkins to make the quilt your own. All appliques have fusible web attached so you get to design, press and get started with stitching quickly. You will get to choose a fat quarter for the backing fabric also (included in kit cost).
Materials Needed
- Size 14 Microtex,Topstitching, or Quilting Sewing Machine Needle
- Sewing Machine*
- Free motion or Hopping foot for your sewing machine.
- Autumn colored Thread (oranges, browns, golds, mauves, deep burgundys, sage greens, etc)- I prefer Gutermann Polyester, Mettler Metrosene or Omni Thread. Cotton might work, but it could break. Bring what you have and we'll see if it works, coordinating or contrasting is ok! We have a great variety in the shop and you can buy as needed during class.
- Cream or light tan thread for quilting (or whatever color you'd like)
- Bobbin filled with neutral cream/tan/white thread
Optional Materials
- Quilting Gloves or Fabric Glide by Gypsy quilter or similar. I will have Fabric Glides for you to try before you buy.
- Extension table for your sewing machine- if you have one, bring it! You'll be glad you did!
*If you need to borrow a sewing machine, we have a limited number available and they must be booked in advance. Book Here. It is always better to be learning on your own machine - it's the one you will be using at home!
